(Effective April 11, 2011)
The serving or sale of alcohol in The Roxbury Senior Center will be allowed only at fundraising events sponsored by either: The Roxbury Senior Center, The Roxbury Senior Center Board of Directors, or The Friends of The Roxbury Senior Center. Alcohol will not be served during normal hours of operation. A Temporary Liquor Permit will be required according to CT General Statutes, Section 30-35 for Roxbury Senior Center and Board of Director events and 30-37b for all events sponsored by The Friends of The Roxbury Senior Center. Additional requirements by the State of Connecticut that must be followed are:
- This temporary permit allows the sale of all types of alcoholic beverages.
- Alcoholic beverages must be consumed on the premises that is owned or leased by the charitable organization. The premises being defined as the Senior Center building and rear patio area. This policy does not cover functions in the barn adjacent to the rear of the Senior Center building.
- A maximum of six (6) such permits may be issued for Senior Center or Board of Director events and eight (8) such permits may be issued for Friends of The Roxbury Senior Center events. Permits must be filed at least ten (10) days prior to the date of the event. A copy of the permit will need to be posted at the event and an additional copy needs to be provided to The Office of The First Selectman.
- A Temporary Liquor Permit Application will be required to be submitted to the State of Connecticut with proper approvals from:
Town Clerk’s Office
Fire Marshal Certification
Resident State Trooper
Once all approvals have been received the permit will need to be mailed to the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Liquor Control Division, with the required filing fee. Proof of insurance will also need to be provided in accordance with town regulations showing adequate liability coverage for the scheduled event. The Roxbury Senior Center Alcohol Policy can be amended at any time due to changes in the CT General Statues or to comply in accordance with The Town of Roxbury ordinances.
